This is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. I have *literally* never had a doctor spend so much time with me, ask so many questions and truly listen to everything I had to say. I also found her to be exceptionally knowledgeable, easy to ask questions and caring.

My allergies are the best controlled they've been in my entire life. They began at age 4 and are severe. Dr. Kaufman has a great bedside manner and created a shot regimen with other as needed medications that have allowed me to get my life back! I can finally breathe! I haven't needed my inhaler in 2 years. Highly recommend!

Dr. Kaufman is caring and understanding and will take the time to not only answer your questions but explain everything. She spent more time then she needed helping us understand how allergies work, what to do and next steps. She has the best bedside manner and it helps that she is a mom of two little boys so she gets it. Can't recommend her enough!

Just don't go anywhere else. At least go here first if you have any inflamatory symptoms anywhere in your body including your respiratory and digestive systems, and joints. I have had symptoms in these areas all my life and have been treated symptomatically for each when they got worse without having a real diagnosis of a root problem. After a surgery, these systems basically shut down and I was immobilized with a pulse rate as if I was in a race. I went to pulmonary, cardiology, GI, neurology, endocrinology specialists. None could find the problem. Immunology was just about all that was left. Dr. Karen Kaufman and her staff took all the time they needed to do a thorough evaluation of my full medical history and came up with a diagnosis that has changed my life. MCAS A diagnosis that took it down to the cellular level- not a symptom. With simple treatment, all my systems are functioning better than ever in my whole life. Go here first. She will tell you if you need to go somewhere else, honestly. She is whole body. Thank you.

I began seeing Dr. Kaufman after a very poor experience at a different allergist that led to a lot of anxiety around allergy shots. Her bedside manner and extreme responsiveness to any concerns I've had have calmed my nerves. Because she takes her time and ensures you don't leave with any lingering questions, it can be expected to occasionally wait a few minutes for your appointment. I believe that any truly good doctor will usually have a short wait, and sometimes a longer wait. The nurses at this practice are extremely friendly, and the shot nurse is amazing! I never even feel the injections. You can tell that Dr. Kaufman has been intentional in forming her new practice with the right personalities and creating an environment that she would want her own family to experience. She's always been very personable with the children I've seen coming and going from the office. I cannot recommend a better allergist in the area!

I see Dr. Kaufman for my immune concerns. I have been sick forever, flu and pneumonia multiple times a year. I get (used to get) sinus infections more than others got colds. Antibiotics didn't help. My ENT pointed me to Dr. Kaufman and she was a breath of fresh air. She took her time to not only ask questions, but listen to my answers. She breaks down responses so that I understand what is going on. And when I have an appointment, she appears to remember me, our list visit, etc. It feels like I am her only patient. I have had to wait BUT when a doctor is giving that in depth care, I understand and appreciate it. She does not rush you out of the exam room. Her new staff shares the same positive energy and care she has. Because of her diligence, knowledge and care, I have seen an improvement in my overall health and care of life. If you are in need of an immunologist, make the appointment. You will not be disappointed.

Dr. Kaufman is incredibly professional, friendly, and thorough with her patients. Easily the best doctor I have had in a long time. She takes the time to get to know you, hear what is going on with you, and offer solutions. I recommend Dr. Kaufman without question!

Absolutely love Dr. Kaufman! Her bedside manner is exemplary. She really takes her time to listen and to talk to you about the next steps and any prognosis and test results. She works with my two kids and she knows how to talk to children about their allergies and is empathetic to their concerns (really only one kid's concerns, as the other thankfully doesn't have allergies). I cannot recommend her enough!!

In one word, Dr. Karen Kaufman is exemplary! She's treated me for skin, thyroid and pulmonary issues. I've been amazed how patiently she listens, asks thought provoking questions, absorbs information and connects the dots. She is a superb diagnostician and really knows her stuff. Her manner is calm, delightful and inquisitive. What impresses me most, is how she explains and educates without being condescending - she even provides written instructions and info when applicable. She is usually on time which is amazing because she is so thorough and spends such quality time with her patients! Dr. Kaufman is one of a kind in the best way possible!

I LOVE Dr. Kaufman. She is a wonderful doctor. She takes time with her patients, allows them to ask as many questions as they need and really goes through treatment options with them. She is very friendly and personable and makes doctors visits enjoyable.

I took my 9-year-old son to see Dr. Kaufman for his severe seasonal allergies. She was very friendly and explained things in a way that he and I could both understand. She walked us through the testing and explained the immunotherapy process. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kaufman.

Dr. Kaufman and her staff were awesome! They took their time really trying to understand my allergy struggles, and got me started on testing same day. From a quick environmental test to the week long allergy testing, they were polite, caring, and professional. They really care about getting you results! On top of that, the office hours are really accommodating. I was able to get 7am appointments.

Dr. Kaufman is a very good doctor. She will go into details about your allergies. She is very helpful when I did not know much about why my allergies were getting worse and she took the opportunity to listen and answer all my concerns about asthma.

My husband and I are patients of Dr. Kaufman and we cannot say enough great things about her. She is a wonderful, caring, thoughtful doctor who consistently goes above and beyond to offer her patients care. She takes time during appointments, really listening to her patient's concerns. She is available via email, even on weekends and evenings, which is another sign of her patient dedication. We wish we could see Dr. Kaufman for all of our ailments, since she is a true and rare gem!

Dr. Kaufman is an AMAZING doctor/professor! She takes the necessary time to explain what your condition is and all the various methods of proper treatment. This review is overdue, since my family and I have been patients of Dr. Kaufman’s coming up on a year now. We are a military family always having to seek out new doctors and specialists with each relocation, and I can attest with certainty that we have never found had an allergist as thorough and attentive as Dr. Kaufman. I am consistently impressed with her handling my kids’ food-allergies, and food-allergy anxieties. Questions are answered quickly and in detail; I find it borderline astonishing how easy it is to make contact with Dr. K with a concern or request for advice. In addition, her office is scrupulously clean and we’ve been happy to work with every member of the staff there.
I’ve been seeing doctors for my kids’ allergies for seven years now and I’m learning things about them for the first time at this office, because of the time she takes to break medical explanations down for me.
As an aside, my kids and I began this allergy journey in California with another food-allergy family with whom we shared our struggles and stories, as well as the same allergist. Both families have since relocated to DC and we both (independently) found Dr. Kaufman. Knowing my friend’s high standards, and knowing mine, it makes me feel good to feel as though we’ve come full circle and landed in the hands of someone with such a high bar of expertise.
