Meet Dr. Kestutis Aukstuolis

Dr. Kestutis Aukstuolis is a double board certified Allergist Immunologist, received a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University, and his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital. 

He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Aukstuolis is also a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. 

Dr. Aukstuolis joins Kaufman Allergy Asthma and Immunology after moving his family across the country from the Pacific Northwest. He has been dedicated to finding a work home that mirrors his own principles and mission, and has found that here at Kaufman Allergy. 

A Lifelong Scholar

Dr. Aukstuolis is a true physician-scholar, as he has been deeply committed to lifelong learning. While working at Seattle Children’s Hospital, he embraced collaborative research and co-authored a textbook chapter on immunodeficiencies. In clinical practice, Dr. Aukstuolis is passionate about educating his patients, ensuring they fully understand their own healthcare. 

Advancing Allergy Care

As we better understand the molecular basis of allergy and immune dysregulation, Dr. Aukstuolis is excited about the rapidly evolving evidence-based care that is becoming available for patients who suffer from life-altering allergic diseases. He has a specific interest in food allergy, has experience with high-risk oral food challenges and food allergy clinical trials. 

Honoring Service

During his nine years of active duty service in the Navy, Dr. Aukstuolis served as the Flight Surgeon of the HM-15 Blackhawks, one of the Navy’s largest helicopter squadrons, and deployed with them to the Middle East. He was later stationed in the Pacific Northwest, where he practiced pediatrics in Oak Harbor, Washington, before pursuing sub-specialty training in Allergy Immunology at the University of Washington.

After spending years enjoying the Pacific Northwest, moving to Virginia brings new adventures for Dr. Aukstuolis and his family. Excited to discover the natural beauty of the region, they are looking forward to hiking the trails, enjoying the lush landscapes, and embracing all that the Virginia outdoors has to offer.

With a desire to be closer to family in he mid-Atlantic area, Dr. Aukstuolis, his wife and two children moved across the country from Washington to Virginia.
