Kaufman Allergy Asthma & Immunology · Vienna, Virginia

A team assembled for depth,
not just coverage.

Six providers, one shared conviction: patients with complex allergic and immunologic disease deserve a provider who is trained to explain what’s happening, not just manage it.

Clinician Educators

TEACHING PATIENTS AND CLINICIANS ALIKE. BECAUSE A PATIENT WHO UNDERSTANDS THEIR CONDITION IS MUCH BETTER EQUIPPED TO MANAGE IT.

Established 2021

BUILT FOR THIS COMMUNITY. fROM A ONE PHYSICIAN PRACTICE TO A SIX PROVIDER TEAM, STILL ROOTED IN VIENNA, VIRGINIA.

WHY A TEAM

Because one set of trained eyes should never be the whole story.

Every provider on this page was chosen deliberately — not to grow a schedule, but to widen the range of complex cases Kaufman Allergy can actually solve. All of our physicians are double board certified in allergy immunology and either internal medicine or pediatrics. Two doctoral-level nurse practitioners, whose backgrounds in clinical research and nursing education shape how they teach patients to understand and manage their own care. Every person on this team was trained to do exactly what you came here for: find the answer, and explain it in a way you can act on.

in-office & telehealth

Dr. Kaufman’s dual board certification in Allergy & Immunology and Internal Medicine allows her to evaluate a patient’s condition within the context of their overall health, rather than in isolation — a distinction that often matters most in complex or previously unresolved cases. Patients consistently note her commitment to explaining findings clearly and completely, ensuring they understand not only their diagnosis but the reasoning behind it. Her ten years as a Navy physician further shaped a disciplined, composed approach to patient care.

“Our patients deserve the absolute best medical care, and the best process in how it is implemented.”

Dr. Aukstuolis’s fellowship training at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital included direct involvement in food allergy clinical trials and high-risk oral food challenges, giving him particular expertise in one of the field’s most rapidly evolving areas. He places strong emphasis on patient education, ensuring that families fully understand a treatment plan before leaving the office. His prior service as a Navy flight surgeon further reflects a career built on sound judgment under demanding circumstances.

He joined Kaufman Allergy in 2024, relocating his family across the country in search of a practice whose standards matched his own — and was named a Top Doctor by Seattle Met Magazine the year before he arrived.

in-office & telehealth

With over thirty years of experience treating allergic and immunologic disease in the D.C. area, Dr. Eghrari-Sabet brings a depth of clinical judgment developed across academic, research, and telehealth settings. Her fellowship training through a consortium spanning Children’s National Medical Center, the National Institutes of Health, and Walter Reed Army Medical Center informs how she approaches diagnostically challenging cases. As Medical Director of Telehealth at the Allergy & Asthma Network, she has also helped expand access to expert care beyond the traditional office visit.

A second-generation physician, she brings one value into every exam room: every patient deserves to be heard, understood, and treated as an equal partner in their own care.

telehealth only

Ms. McSorley-Gerard’s doctoral research on self-injectable epinephrine in the management of anaphylaxis has directly informed national best practices for one of the most serious risks patients with allergic disease face. That same research-driven approach carries into her clinical care, where she emphasizes not only treatment but ensuring patients understand how to manage their condition with confidence. She provides care via telehealth across Virginia and Maryland, extending access without compromising continuity of care.

She’s happiest building the kind of relationship with a patient that turns a diagnosis into something they feel equipped to manage — not just endure.

Ashley Scott, DNP FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner · Immunotherapy Program Lead

DNP

immunotherapy program lead

As the practice’s compounding nurse practitioner, Ashley Scott oversees the precise, individualized formulation of each patient’s allergen immunotherapy — a role requiring exacting clinical attention. Her focus on pediatric food allergy positions her to play a central role as Kaufman Allergy launches its oral immunotherapy program. Her ongoing work as a nurse practitioner program director, teaching advanced diagnosis and pharmacology, reflects the same rigor she brings to direct patient care.

A 2022 Arlington Cares Award recipient for volunteer service, she brings the same quiet dedication to her patients that she brings to her community.

JOINING FALL 2026

ALL AGES

IN-OFFICE & telehealth

Dr. Razzaq will join Kaufman Allergy in fall 2026 after recently completing her fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where her research has focused on exactly the kind of complex, easy-to-miss cases this practice was built to catch — including systemic mastocytosis presenting as allergic angina and the connection between food insecurity and asthma control. A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine with an undergraduate background in Global Public Health from the University of Virginia, she has been recognized during her training with the Gold Humanism Honor Society and an award for best teaching role model.

She exhibits the same commitment to clear, patient-first explanation that defines every provider on this team.
